About us

New Enclosure calls upon wide ranging experience working with clients and their landscapes in both urban and rural settings. From planning permissions for residential and commercial developments, to landscape led masterplanning and management strategies for landowners and local authorities, all the way to ecologically minded garden design. Our expert understanding across landscape and ecology allows us to present imaginative, well-considered, and pertinent work regardless of the scale or context of a project. By working with our small, independent, and dedicated team you can be assured you will receive a highly responsive, personal service that is approachable, easy to work with, and always on the front foot.

New Enclosure is fronted by director and landscape architect Richard Connell. Having worked for Camden Council Parks & Open Spaces he moved into nature conservation with the National Trust, Earthwatch Institute, and Environment Agency of Iceland before working in landscape architecture private practice in London and later the south west. He founded New Enclosure in 2019.

He holds a BSc in Environmental Science, MSc in Geochemistry, and a MA in Landscape Architecture. He is the recipient the Scottish Landscape Institute's Peter Daniel’s prize for excellence in landscape site assessment and contextual study.
